I think the use of the word nigga or nigger in rap songs is a blight on the black community. You want equality yet push the thug lifestyle and tout the N word. It's really quite sad. I work with a lot of black people and I respect them because they respect me - you see respect is a two way street in most peoples books

from what i can understand, it's more about taking posession of the word and hopefully changing it's meaning, if not it's intonation and degrading value. who knows if that will work in the long run, but it seems to give whitey a reason to say it even more in the time being.

Antonio, I am just wondering how you would treat me if we just meet for the first time and you didn't know anything about me other than how i "look". Would you think of me as a cracker who doesn't know anything about black people or would you treat me as a human and it doesn't matter that I am white. I am in the same boat as shaggy. Both sides of my family came over to the US from Finland back in the early 1900s after trying to gain independence from Russia, and have done absolutly nothing to hinder black people from gaining the rights that they deserve. And just because I am white, why do black people hate me and say that I oppress them?

It's a sad state of affairs. You brought up this apparent racism and started a flame war.
I wish this would all end too.
What I was trying to say in my last post that the constant use of the term nigger, regardles of context or intonation, doesn't help anyone.

I would treat you as person. I don't care what color you are. I make a post, but yet I am the one being labled the racist. Instead of seeing the information for what it is, the presenter of that information is attacked. I would like to know where is the hatred coming from? Do you all not like talking about the subject? Do you wish for it to go away? Well I am sorry it won't. The "conversation" has to continue until we all as Americans can come together as one. I truly believe, that in my heart things will be just fine for all us.
