Pay particular attention to the demographic makeup in terms of race for the area in question.

Pure mathematical logic would dictate that more Blacks would be looting than Whites in that particular area, since they make up a majority of the population there, no? No pun intended, but the numbers are pretty "black and white" unless I've missed something. I would expect the stories to be of a somewhat similar skew if race is being made an issue...

Or is this a case of the white minority there and their conservative pals in the press there sticking it to "The Man"? If so, quit discriminating against my kind!

Most other stories I've read talk about folks tossing rocks through windows of boutiques and then filling trash-cans with jewelry and reams of clothing; last time I checked, these are the last items one usually needs in a natural disaster...

Grocery stores I can somewhat understand if the need is truly there, but car-jackings, shootings and free-range thievery I can't; I was raised better.

Before I get slapped with the pansy-assed, upper-class, lily-white WASP label due to my musings, don't forget I grew up with food stamps, hunting to help place food on the table and a large farm garden that was the staple of the table until much better times came about.

I'm seeing a matter of statistics here, not any particularly powerful social commentary, Antonio. Now, if this was Connecticut we were talking about, I'd jump on your bandwagon fairly quick. Don't take any disrespect, but I just don't see any echoes of white hoods, Jim Crow or burning crosses in the reporting that I've read so far.
