I had this EXACT same problem a couple months ago, I had to replace the front left wheel bearing (Yes, the DRIVERS side bearing), and to make matters even more interesting, we split the bearing we took out and it looked ... perfectly fine... no scoring or heat related wear signs.

Very poorly on my part I drove with the bearing making this noise for about a month or so, and got a good idea of the sound, it can be very misleading where it's coming from but reproducing the sound is very is, anything off center to the left would result in a droning sound. Everyone thought I was nust for wanting to change the left, but after hanging me head out the window on a couple left hand turns I was convinced. I had gotten a Ford Stealership to inspect the car ($20 CAN) and they said the same thing (I had only said a droning and described the actions to repro the sound, not my thoughts on the matter). So I just went with it.
