I was on my way home late tonite when i passed by my work. I work at a Dodge Dealer in Pa. When i got there the cleaning people and a police officer were there. (12:15) am. I went in and the key they dropped off had a note. "Towed in, Wheel fell off". If you can see they dropped it right in front of the service door. I knew of a recall that the techs were working on.... click here to read the recall

Sorry the pics were from a camera phone.

Stupid Chrysler. It's not the first time they havd an issue with Ball Joints. Similar wheel-offs were common with the Sebring/Avenger. You'd think they'd have learnt something in the suspension dept - I guess not.

Hmmm...I wonder if it really was a manufacturing defect or if it was caused by those horrendous PA roads. Jk, but didn't the last gen Dakota/Durango have ball joint problems too that Chrysler almost downright refused to acknowledge? I was looking into getting a Dakota R/T or Durango before I got my CSVT & after reading about those issues I promptly changed my mind about them. Not to mention they're horrible gas hogs too. Way to go Chrysler!

Oh my God! I know they had the issue from the old body style... but it's back?! .

My mothers 2002 Durango R/T had that issue happen. She was driving down a side street @ about 30mph beggining to come to a stop and the drivers side front wheels litteraly just popped off, hub and all.

I (persoannly) think it has something to do with the AWD system on those trucks. As that 05 (or 06) Durango has AWD according to the rear badging, my mothers R/T had AWD, and quite a few of the "problem Ute's" where also AWD. More stress from the Constant 60/40 AWD system, maybe? Hmm.. sucks for DCX.

Hey, the more things like this happen, the greater the likelihood that I can pick up a 300C Hemi in 5 years for $4k. I just hope they attached the wheels a little more securely on that model.
