The kit came as it looks in the pictures, I didn't do anything but install it
I guess you could put it on the passenger side if you dont have a reservior there. Is it closer? Maybe about 3 inches closer to the origional oil filter location. I dont think its an issue, the kit comes with enough hose to put it on either side. I had about 8 inches of hose left over after installing mine.
