I'm having trouble removing my headlight assy. I removed the top two screws but it is still connected. Is there another screw somewhere? Also when I get them out, is it hard to clean the inside? Thanks. 98 GL

From the 96 Ford CD, there are three clips behind to be removed.
Headlamp Housing Removal and Installation
1. Depending upon headlamp assembly to be replaced, remove RH or LH turn signal/parking lamp assembly as outlined. 2. Disconnect wiring harness to headlamp bulbs. 3. Note: The battery must be removed to access driver side headlamp assembly. Remove battery if replacing driver side headlamp assembly. 4. Reaching behind headlamp assembly, remove three clips retaining headlamp assembly to radiator grille opening panel reinforcement. Remove headlamp assembly. 5. Transfer mounting brackets and both headlamp bulb and socket assemblies to new headlamp assembly.
6. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Adjust headlamps as outlined.

That 96 is way different from the 2000s, wow. I pulled off the three screws and slid the entire housing out and unhooked each bulb from there. And yes, the inside of the lens is very difficult. The outside is easy and you should use something like Meguiar's PlasticX. I have the professional #17, but the consumer level works as well. Use a buffer if the lenses are really bad, but any quality 100% cotton cloth will work.

Thanks for the info guys. I did get the headlight assy out (kinda felt stupid when I looked down and saw the third screw). The only problem I have is that the lens is real bad from the inside. Is it possible to remove the lens from the assy. without breaking anything?

There are several how-to's on how to do this. Do a search for "hightower headlights". I'm about to do this mod myseelf, when I get the nerve to take a dremel to my headlights.
