I support making english the national language, and by doing so no one will loose their heritage like many Latino's claim. Look to all the other immigrants from everywhere else as an example, they have retained their heritage and are able to function within America. If they choose to just flat out Americanize, they have that choice too.
there are plenty of legal immigrants who do not desire nor need to learn English as well. there are Korean, Russian, Armenian, Philipino, Chinese etc communities where immigrants do not need to learn the language either.
True, but the majority of those other communities speak english so that they can function within mainstream American society. I don't think that other languages should be banned, but english should be a common ground for all in America. The melting pot that America is, english should be the national language so all the diverse people can communicate to one another.
I got to see a Korean guy, an Arab guy and a Latino guy try to speak to one another in their own versions of broken english in Industry, CA at a gas station a few months ago..... priceless
