OK I am confused, how does that work? I just used a giant screw driver.

I agree. Knuckle suspension blows major tailpipes to work on, but seems to be the most secure method for the strut to sit.

It goes on a rachet, and the screw driver looking part goes in and splits the knuckle open enough free the strut from the knuckle.

The problem I've found with the tool, is that the tab on the struts themselves generally run the lenght and the slist on the knuckle, making it really hard to fit the spreader in to work properly/effectively.

Just use a mallet and knock it off the strut.

For the LOWER BALL JOINT I hammer in a chisel into the split to open it up. Oh and I go to town with PB Blaster on ANYTHIG that is a fastener or a contact zone between two parts that need to be separated.

True. I used a whole can doing my springs/struts, but didn't have one stuck bolt. Let it soak, and bang with a rubber mallet + 2x4. Mine just slid off, and it had 83k miles on it. Much easier than I expected.

I have a set of Koni's with the spring perches machined off ... all you would need then is some Ground Controls and you would be set ... $575 shipped is a steal! They are brand new, never used, and I already did the hard part and machined off the perches (no hack saw job here). PM if interested.
