This is a longshot, but I was wondering if anyone uses Bloomba as their email client?

I've used v1.0 for the past year, and it has made email much more managable (I receive a couple hundred messages per day). Unfortunately, after Yahoo bought the company last year they immediately discontinued the software and I've looked everywhere for an installer for v2.0 (which has many new features) with no success. Btw, when it was supported, it was available as a shareware download so please don't lock this thread. If anyone has a v2 installer or knows where they are still archived please PM me.

For those unfamiliar with Bloomba, it's basically a mail client that allowed you to "Google" your mail long before gmail was even launched. It indexes every message you receive into a database so you can perform fast searches through all your downloaded mail. Basically does away with the idea of using hierarchical folders and sorting rules for your mail client. I don't have a corporate mail server and I don't use calendar or contact lists (features that are in v2.0 btw) so I've dropped Outlook completely.

Bloomba has not been completely retired, it is still marketed under the "Wordperfect Mail" monicker..

I didn't know about Bloomba, it looks interesting, so I'll keep searching for it...

Yup! That's what I'm using at home, since... the invention of the internet (j/k)

But the search facilities of Eudora are not easy to use, unfortunately.. not that bad, but... I always make sure I try other products before I decide staying with Eudora or others for that matter.. evolution!!

ESC

It's official, the WordPerfect Mail client (1.0) is what you used to call Bloomba. It seems that Corel struck a deal with StataLabs right before Yahoo! bought the company and removed Bloomba from circulation.

You can download a 30-day trial version at Corel's site:
THis is the product page for WordPerfect Mail 1.0

Cost is 69 USD now..

Anyways, thanks for the heads up!

It sounds a lot like the on-the-fly search feature in Mail, which I've been using as my primary POP3 client for nearly three years now (I do use the search very often, as well as hierarchy). Any differences, besides the operating system?

Wow, you guys are amazing, I'd given up on finding this and was going to just stick it out with v1.

Downloading the demo now to see how it is. $69 is a bit steep, but in terms of opportunity cost it's a bargain consider how much time it saves me with my work emails.

98 SE, I'm not sure how it compares to the Apple Mail. I do use the search function a lot, maybe 10-15 times a day, but the main feature I use is the saved search which is what you use to replace folders. You can tag emails into a Category or Status like other clients, and have saved searches looking for msgs with these parameters. The saved search sits on the sidebar like a folder and it can display a count of all or just the unread msgs meeting that set of search parameters. I set up searches for all stages of sales: inquiries, waiting payment, unread payment, ready to ship, service, awaiting return, etc. So I can check at a glance that our fulfillment queue (which is on a separate database) matches up with what I have in email. I use to manually check these entries, which is an immense pain once the volumes increased, but if I don't do some sort of check you lose the occasional order that gets skipped over or read without processing.

It also has the option of grouped threads for emails (not sure if other clients have this), which makes so much sense you can't consider going back to flat chronological view. It's very much like reading an online forum
