IIRC the 86 2.8L's were fitted with fuel injection and got the 86-89 flat intake setup. Maybe you have an early model?
I wouldn't just assume the 3.8L would bolt up... may need the subframe out of the GT... but I wouldn't know cause I've never swapped a 3.8L in a Ciera.
Also pre-85 3.8L didn't have fuel injection, but I'm sure those aren't easy to come by.
If you felt like having fun and have the $, you could attempt a Fiero mod and throw in a 350 or Northstar... heh.
