No kidding!

Taking a signal designed for 646x486 (NTSC resolution) and displaying it on 1024x768 (more than likely higher, unless you have a 12" LCD).

Going up in resolution just adds pixels and makes the picture look like CRAP (exactly like digital zoom). Called interpolation.
