I know how you feel. About 5 years ago, a kid in a cutlass was doing about 90 and hit the phone pole in front of my house. It wasn't even recognizable as a car, and the kid was totally trapped by twisted metal, and unconscious. We called 911, but then the car caught fire. My wife, roomate and I hooked up our garden hose but it wouldn't reach the road. The spare hose was frozen (it was Feb.), so we threw snow on the kid as he burned. I can still hear him and smell him burning. We finally got the fire down when the fire dept. came. They spent 1.5 hours just cutting him out of the wreck, and when they pulled him out, his leg fell off. He lost the leg, but survived.
His mom thanked us later, and he eventually came by to do likewise. During this conversation, he mentionede that he still drove fast. I couldn't believe it. I had nightmares for years.
Just read in the paper about a month ago that he crossed the centerline on a highway and died in that crash. We do what we can to help people, but ultimately they make their own choices. Hope you're ok, and her family is too.
