tone it down.

going 55, I dunno if his tire would've blown, but that's besides the point. I doubt he would've swerved nearly as badly. going 80 is reckless, if you disagree, you're smokin somethin. in MD if you're caught going 30 mph over the speed limit, they have the right to lock you up on the spot and have your car towed. 80 was an estimate, he was going TOO FAST which was the only point I really wanted to get across by estimating the speed.

the severity of the injuries may be caused by lack of seatbelt, but the fact of the matter is that she shouldn't have been faced with that situation. people, manslaughter is accidental homicide, I'm not saying he meant to do anything. it's just that if he was being more cautious, not going 80mph in his new little car that'd been freshly modified (2 week old car w/ exhaust, yea), it wouldn't have ended so badly. it was a REAR tire, and you wanna say it's normal to go sideways and cut across the whole highway? I've had rear tires blow, and it didn't happen to me.

I'm not trying to start a debate or flame war, but the fact is they guy didn't ask about the woman one time. he didn't seem to care. he was speeding, muffed up and smoked up a cigarette on the scene very nonchalontly. I have no sympathy for him.

she's completely at fault? cause someone else was driving like an asshat and his tire messed up? she didn't even see it coming, yea she should've buckled up, but wow, it's HER fault now?

Hold on. I don't think he was going "so fast".

If you were merging at 65 mph and you said (I quote): "and I see a motorcycle, so I say, 'gee, let's watch out for him' ". Was the motorcycle speeding too?

I had already been merged, I was just noting that I was aware of my surroundings. 80 mph = 25 mph over the speed limit. TOO fast.

I don't get you CEG, someone posts about going 65 in a 55 and getting a ticket for it, and they're criminals cause they were speeding, and they could've caused an accident and blah blah blah. yet someone's going 80 in a 55 and is responsible for someone's death, and he's not sucha bad guy? gimme a break here.

the rest of traffic was going 60-65 along with me, and he was just flying by everyone. I don't even have the energy to respond to a lot of these points, but I just want to say I disagree and think this guy should be responsible. I remember hearing so many times here that if you're speeding, you should be willing to deal with the consequences (usually referring to tickets), but now you've all had a change of heart, and it baffles me

i always drive 10 to 15 miles over the speed limit in perfect weather ive had tires blown out at various speeds in various cars not all mine and im here till this day thank god and i have not hit no one else. i feel comfertable going 80 in my car i always physically look to the left or right before changing lanes to actually see with my eyes if a car is next to me i always drive about 25 feet away from someone when im speeding and try to look ahead for signs of someone slowing down. dont blame speed blame not knowing what to do. when something goes down i let go off the gas have both hands on the wheel keep it steady and slow down if i can i swear out of the way. then again i do have alot of non stock parts in my car and my car has lowered hard suspension. its stupid to blame someone for speeding and having a tire blown out. ive had tire blow outs going 30 mph. the blame should go to the lame driving requirements set by the states. on the autoban you can go crazy fast and they have less accidents per year than we over here and we drive slower.

You are not safely driving at 80mph. The speed limit is there for a damn good reason. You say you drive 25 ft away from other cars... at 80mph you should be 8 car lenghts away , minimum, in dry conditions. Non stock parts do not make much of a difference, unless you have a huge brake kit. What kind of "lame" driving requirements are there here? And most people that drive the autoban know their cars. And you know why they have less crashes? It is only one road! We have thousands. Besides the fact, it you loose control at 80 mph and hit a tree or 150 mph and hit a tree, you are screwed either way. Don't run around saying you are a safe driver and everything when you drive 15 mph over the posted limit. You are talking over 350 ft to stop at that speed, and in wet weather, even more. I hope you aren't behind me in an emergnency situation.

Drew, I knew about this site from the page in this link:

http://www.answerbag.com/q_view.php/30201

(This site is the "Tin Yurl" {lol) link shown on the link above) so I visited here, and then saw your thread.

Did you ever call the hospital and find out about the woman? Did she make it?

If she didn't, well, I'm starting to believe in Quantum Immortality (NOT as a Religion, if anyone was wondering), so she may have survived in any of the infinite other parallel realities.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_Immortality

I've been through plenty of situations where I could've died but survived nonetheless. I've probably died in other realities, but "teleported" to the current one (without knowing, of course.)

If anyone was wondering, on that site, I'm Shultz, seen here: http://www.answerbag.com/stats.php?query=most_questions

Hmm. I don't remember watching that show. Besides, how did my previous post have anything to do with watching "The One"?

Now anyways, did that woman survive?

first, what new info did I add there???

second, that's what you get for putting on your high and mighty hat a little too soon. sorry I couldn't include whatever details you think I left out the first time, but the post was long already, so excuse me. once again, I have to tell you to tone it down, because I'm fighting very hard not to call you all types of names. it's smart little comments like that that start flame wars on message boards, and the little smiley wasn't necessary, actually that whole post wasn't, since it's only purpose was to rile me up and get a reaction. you sir, are a jerk

no, she didn't make it. a friend of mine saw it on the news
