next, it is her own fault for not wearing a seat belt, it's a personal choice (no matter what some legislator says) and she chose to die, end of story.
third, the legal system in that state would have to be extremely to the left to prosecute the driver of the talon for causing the lady's death; [censored] happens that's why it's called an "accident."
Fourth, tires on a normal passenger vehicle come with a Standard speed rating and a standard speed rating is an "S" rated tire and this rating if for sustained speeds at 112 mph or less. The lowest speed rating is "M" and comes in at 81 mph, which is incidentally LESS than "N" rating (87 mph) given to MOST spare tires. Last I checked dealerships and car lots do not make a point of equipping a car with four spare tires and making the purchaser get real tires. Who ever told you this was either pulling your leg, or misinformed. The driver of the talon doing 80 mph can not be blamed for not forseeing a blow-out unless he had been going conciderably faster.
Fifth, Who in the hell can not control a car if a rear tire blows at 80 mph??? The only thing the talon driver is truely guilty of is being an incompetant [censored] head that had no buisness behind the wheel of a car. I've been behind the wheel in a similar situation, as long as you gently break and don't try to swerve suddenly a car reacts fine..... that driver needs a for being an incompetant driver, but that's about it.
Sixth, why is it that people seem to think 80 mph is too fast for highway driving?? Europe has allowed for speeds over 100 for years and years with more traffic and fewer problems. Despite what the tv commercials and soccer moms want you to believe speed is not the problem. Inexperienced, unknowledgable drivers, those that do not pay attention, those that drive in the wrong lane, etc... are the cause of traffic problems. The person trying to go 100 in the PASSING lane to get from point A to point B are not the one doing wrong. If you are not capable of driving fast, do not criticize those of us that are; do your job behind the wheel, remember you are in a car NOT a concert studio, bathroom, at the kitchen table, in a phone booth, etc... stay in the right lane unless you are passing, look properly in your mirrors before entering the passing lane, merge back into the driving lane after passing, if someone approaches you from behind while in the passing lane do not slow down, give the finger, play games, etc... yeild the the right-of-way as legally required at be on your way. When the rules of courtesous safe driving are ignored "road rage" ensues and the majority of traffic problems occur.
