I currently have the 2.0 engine and want either a 2.5 or 3.0 one. What would be nessacery for either one to work in my car. I know lots of rebuilding of engine but what else?

Check out the 3L forum, if you haven't done so already..

cliff's notes on that forum:

3L is cheaper than the 2.5, and makes more power.
ATX to MTX conversion is expensive, and labor intensive.

3L atx has been done, but, I won't recommend it and I dont think anyone else will either. Probably easier/cheaper to get a MTX doner car and get the subframe and parts you need from it.

Either way you look at it, you're talking a friggin rebuild of almost half the car.

if a 3L engine requires so much work then how much work would a 2.5L require and can that be atx? I live in an urban area that would shred any MTX. Thats why I want ATX.

I think you are all missing the most important part. He has a Zetec.

He will need an entire V6 MTX parts car to complete the swap. This swap is going to be very difficult and with the money and time spent on doing the swap, a V6 MTX could of been bought from the start.

Just my .02 cents.

Unfortunately, if you want the last half of your post, your gonna have a whole lot of that first part.

Contact a member by the name of Russel 3L ATX or some variation of that.
He did the 3L/SVT hybrid with an ATX and could help you out there.

i would suggest not doing the swap.....definately cheaper and easier to get an already made v6 atx....i know its not what you wanted to hear but in the end its the bare facts....

Your gonna need a beefy tranny then. The CD4E will for sure take a dump.
