well I just got an extra dash to practice on and I'm working on buying all of the door panels and plastic pieces so I can do this without messing up my own interior. If everything goes well, I'll replace the tan parts for the newly painted ones. dion, the black part of your interior looks really good so hopefully mine will come out as nice.

I like the silver inserts. My is just too dark with the dash being black and the inserts being the stock dark gray.

I can put you in touch with a designer at Ford who does these types of projects for OEM show cars. Drop me a PM or e-mail........

thanks... just make sure you take your time and prep the panels correctly. if yours looks good, I may have to step up and do my entire interior black as well!

What would it take to turn the tan interior of my SVT black? So far I know the route to take for the Seats and Carpet. But I'm at a loss as how to get the dash board painted or dyed black along with the door panels. Just for the record, I'm dead serious about doing this so help from the big boys (aka Terry Haines, Chris Hightower, Street Concepts and other interior experts would be appreciated). Of course all other input is welcome to, I just need to make this happen.
At our place (I work at an antiqie car dealer here in Ill.), we use a vinyl and plastic dye made by SEM. It comes in about 13 premixed colors, including black (obviously). SEM also markets a vinyl prep, and a cleaner to remove all contaminants and ready the surface properly. They also have 3 finishes to use as a top coat-low gloss, semi and high gloss. Your choice. I have used their products for 5 years, and they really stand up to abuse. They were even able to custom mix a yellow for a 67 Camaro we are working on. A local body shop supply company here sells the 16oz cans for around 10 dollars a pop. If you need more info, I'll be glad to help. This stuff is outstanding.
