Also, when you do exhaust, chip, and all the things that help economy, it has more power. I don't know about you guys, but if I have more power, I use it.  So whatever fuel economy that is gained by those mods, I lose in driving harder. Oh well, maybe on the freeway with the curise on I'll see some gains in MPG.
At least for the exhaust, I found the opposite to be true for me.
When the stock muffler went out on my 93 Prelude, I replaced it with a Flowmaster system. The thing was so damn loud that I kept my revs down just to stay at a reasonable volume. The two combined netted an almost 2-mpg increase.
