I really thought all this garbage had finally come to an end after JED's wonderful contribution to the site with his "sales." I saw so many helpful posts and everyone just coming together. Many donations to CEG to help Lance, help with Troubleshooting posts, informative new How-To's, etc.
Then I sign on tonight and read all this about Milan and I am in shock that everything great, and worth logging onto the site everyday has just coming crashing down with this. Everyone fighting, useless bickering, ridiculous polls, etc.
I really give credit to my favorite "unamed" moderators for really trying so hard to keep everything on track every single day, while others just go around tormenting, warning, and banning members. Maybe it is time for Lance to come in himself and do some "house cleaning" with some of the moderators.
I swore I wouldn't drag myself into this but I have to speak my 2 cents. The only knowledge I have of Milan is the SVTPete episode and then personally meeting him at SZ05. These are two totally opposite scenarios. First, I was personally surprised that after all that was said, he was unbanned. But he was and it seemed that everything was OK. After meeting him, he seemed to be a pretty straightup, knowledgeable, and likeable guy. What he's been able to do to his SVT is truely amazing and makes me very envious of his obvious talents. He even offered to help anyone who wished to do the same to their cars. At no time did I see anything about financial renumeration being discussed. Then, much to my surprise, he's banned again. I wonder why, but I am not a moderator (nor do I wish to be one) and am therefore not privy to the same information that they are. Herein lies the problem. If I'm not being told why he's banned, there must be a reason(s). Either it's just none of my business and I need to shut up about it and accept the moderator's decision or I need to reasonably and without personally attacking them, question the moderator's decision and expect a reasonable and unbiased reply. Everything else is extraneous and a total waste of time and words.
But all this talk of not contributing/helping/etc the only site I've frequented in the past 2 years has got to change. CEG is not only the best site for anyone with a Contour, it seems to me to be one of the best run and maintained sites I've seen. Rara, Milan, myself, and anybody else people want to drag into this, are not CEG. CEG is all of us and we deserve better than all the bickering, name calling, and general bull that has been the norm these past few days. Probably 90% of what has been said has been a complete waste of time and space. I would like simply to be told what the true story is, not that someone "has been on thin ice". Lance has endowed moderator status on certain people for a reason. This is not a democacy and will never be one simply because this site would not exist without Lance. We need to remember this and to be grateful for our site. If mods need to be changed, let the man who created the site take care of it. If he chooses not to, accept his decision. I'm not complaining, there has to be rules to make sure the site runs as best as possible. I personally don't have any problems following the rules. No one should, it's just not that hard.
All I ask is that I be reasonably informed. Again, it's just not that hard.
