And just as an addendum... SpeedStep is OS dependant. The *nix world requires kernel modules (that aren't ENTIRELY stable) to 'let the cpu know it's "idle"'. I'd imagine that XP (etc) have essentially the same thing, but is already included.
SpeedStep just seems silly to me. I can't imagine the benefit of more than 10 minutes of battery life... But... that's just me.
