My friend's going to be getting a tach for his contour and I didn't know where i should wire the White wire for the lights and the red wire and the black wire (ground) but i didn't know if i want to wire to the negative port on the Ignition coil.

THANKS

The contour actually has a tach signal wire that is run to the back of the gauge cluster. I forget which one it is(it is in the pinout), but I am sure there is someone on here that knows. I believe on the printed circut board on mine it was labeled. If you go the other way you are going to have to get a MSD tach adaptor.

Would be easier just to get a cluster with a tach. Aftermarket tachs work better with it getting signal from the coil (which will read wrong on the Zetec). Don't ask how I know.

Hector didnt your SVT cluster just swap right in? or did you have to have it set for the Zetec?

You have to put in a tach from a 4-cyl, but the rest of the gauge can be from a 4 or 6.

I also have some questions about installing a tach:
1. How do you wire it?
2. Can you use the existing Odometer?
3. If not, How do you adjust the mileage on the odometer with tach. to match old odometer?

you can actually use any cluster (4 or 6) even the tach. however the tach has to be modified to work with the 4 if its from the 6 (i.e. add a resitor in the correct place.
as for the speedo, just take out your old on and put it in the new cluster. to do this you will have to take the needle off on the speedo and then put it back on after its in the new one. however you will need to go do some testing (driving a set distance with the cruise on and timing it. then do all the math to figure out how fast you were going and adjust the needle acordingly). if you someone posts a pick of the back of the v6 tach i can show you were to add the resistor and what size. if you you want a picture of the finished product go look at my cardomain site (striker2's ford) if you have any ?s just ask.

No picture but Autozone has a pretty good schematic.
