95 gl ATX i was just looking in the archives, to try and learn why my car jerks hard whenever it shifts. i seen something abouta VSS or TSS? it will like rev high and then jerk into the shift (not sure what you call that) and sometimes my speedo waves up and down, but never reads any more than 3 mph over, but it kinda like dangles maybe is the word im looking for. maybe those are related from what ive read? read this could be a vss? are those the kind of symptoms i would experience? also ive cleaned my engine bay 3 times since i have the car, and 2 of the 3 times, it would stop doing that for like aday. and the other day we had a heavy rain, not sure if its coincedence or what...

Definately the TSS, or Turbine Speed Sensor... its an easy fix, order the part from ford... its something like $25. Then take off the driver side front wheel and you will see the sensor poking out of the side of the trannie with a wire attached... with some plyers pry the Sensor out of the socket. Disconnect the sensor from the wire... Then throw the old sensor over you sholder... Take the new sensor, ease it into the hole and gently tap it in till its all the way down. Reattach the wire, reattach the wheel and go for a drive in your smooth shifting ATX contour.

Anytime your speedo does the things you described means your VSS is out. Check the CD4E FAQ's and I have a how-to in there on replacing it.

Definitely VSS. Change it and then change the ATF.
ATF change how to.

What might be happening is water or moisture getting into the connectors for the VSS. You may want to clean the VSS connectors and then tape it up so that water or moisture doesn't get in it.
