My friend just purchased a 99 Se sport duratec 5 speed. We attempted to do the fog light mod on it, made a mistake and touched the orange w/black stripe aginst the solid black wire on the relay and now his headlights only come on if you push the turn signal stalk foreward (as if you were turning the high beams on). Its wierd because we blew a fuse when it happened and after that the only way to get the lights to work with the headlight switch was to jumper the solid orange wire with the orange and black wire together. Any Ideas?

Pushing the stalk forward? I could see pulling it back, using it in the flash mode.
Anyhow, you have checked fuse 26 in the passenger compartment, right?

Yes, we checked fuses, and I switched the fog lamp relay with the one from my car and still nothing.

He doesn't have daytime running lights. We changed the relay under the hood with the one from my car also and nothing changed. Is there a relay that relates to that under the dash?

Maybe it fried the headlight switch or a wire going to/from there... maybe throw your headlight switch in and see if it works.

If he doesn't have daytime running lights...then what operates the headlights? Pushing it forward is for the high beams and pulling it towards you is flash to pass. I dont know your car..has it got a switch for regular headlights?? If not then it has daytime running headlights, and the DRL relay could be gone. Also check for one low beam headlight element burnt out...that also could be the problem.
