Well, within this past week my 99 v6 ATX cougar has been pulling the p0136 code, saying bank 1 sensor 2 o2 circuit malfunction. The thing is i have gutted precats with a testpipe, with MIL eliminators. What i did, thinking the MIL's were bad, i switched them out with the front to the rear, and the rear to the front. 3 days later, i get the same p0136 code. This makes me believe my mils arent bad, but what could be causing this problem. While i was under the car, i traced down the wires, and from what i could tell none looked damaged or frayed, all good condition. My car does have 120k on it, and from the looks of it my front 02 sensor had been changed recently, and my firewall side(the code side) looks like it has seen its better days.
What can be causing me this code? I know it doesnt effect performance or anything, i jsut hate the CEL being on. Could the actual 02 sensor be bad with the Mil plugged into it anyways? Sometimes i smell a funny smell while idling or what not, i think its my exhaust, but i do have no cats and one resonator. How could i get this problem fixed?
