Edit- Plus 4 Ziex's shipped for $200 sounds like a good deal to me.
I too was looking at those tires a couple weeks ago, and when I went to discount they informed me that there is no mile warranty on the tire. I don't know if that matters to you but it does to me. Also they said that they are crappy tires in the snow, but great in rain and dry roads. I went with the Goodyear Triple tread, and LOVE it. My parents have this tire on their van and it handles great in the snow, and has a really agressive look to it as well.
But if you go with the Falken's you can find them real cheap online, like 50 a tire i think.
So your parents van handles great in the snow and has a really aggressive look?
I'm guessing you shouldn't have listened to the tire guy. The Falken Ziex 512's are probably not $50 a tire and they don't suck. I first started buying them in 2003 and I moved from my BFG GForce tires to them because they cost 2/3 what the BFG did and provided comparable performance. THey were rated about as high in speed and in treadware. WHen I actually used them I felt no loss in handling ability and they are the only performance tire that I have tried that can actually hold traction in my car under moderate loads.
