module is behind the glovebox.

jump it with a safetypin to enter "program mode..." the horn honks..

place a known good key in the ignition and turn it to ON, then remove it... then place a new key and turn it to on, etc, within like.. 5 seconds.
then remove the jumper, and the horn honks again.

search on CEG for this exact sequence, but you will find it.

Then, again, maybe that is the remote entry programming. I dunno. never had to do it, thankfully, even though I own only one PATS key, and require two to program.. (i'm screwed, should I lose mine!)

Yep, those are the steps for programming the remote, not the key. Better get the exact procedure as there are time requirements to make it work. I did mine a couple of years ago and found the procedure somewhere online so I know it's out there.

As far as taking the car to the dealer to program a key, there are some locksmiths that have a computer in a suicase that can program a lot of different cars. When my son lost one of my sets of keys I bought a blank from a locksmith supply online site and then got it cut and programmed from a local locksmith that had the computer (mine is the "two key required" system). The remote I bought on ebay and at least that only requires that you have one working remote to program a second.

The process for programming a new key is easy, I found that in my owner's manual. However, as to programming a remote - do I need a working one? Because I don't have a remote at all right now, the one on the set of keys that I lost was the only one I got with the car.

I'll do some searching to find out more about this.

I lost my keys at the Six Flags in Arlington, Texas one time...Cheap alarm, easy car to get into, and spare key in truck = Good drive home!!

Anyway, the dealer is outrageously expensive to put a key in the ignition and program the car...

I got a key off EBAY and had it programmed at the dealer because I have a truck that requires two keys....I didn't feel like calling around and getting prices, and I simply needed the keys done...And yes, it was expensive to me...

You don't need a working remote to program the car to accept a remote.

There is a wiring connector (white IIRC) behind the glove box that must be jumped (I use a paper clip) with the key on. When the car is in the programming mode (I don't remember the signal, but it may be a short horn chirp) push any button on ALL of the remotes you intend to use on the car. Turn off the key and remove the paper clip and then test the remotes. If you don't have all the remotes with you when you program, the ones that you left behind will no longer work until ALL are done again.

That is as best as I remember it. You should be able to find more accurate information with a search.
