Rev matching makes for quicker shifting, less damage/wear, and still keeps the throttle plate open. However it also takes a lot more skill to do it quickly.

Most people "powershift" because they CAN'T shift correctly. It's as simple as that.
It is quicker to rev match then to speed dump the clutch while the engine bounces off the redline. The less the syncros have to work the faster you can shift.
but the thread never says how to use rev matching in a drag, just that it is better, however I have the problem is that I can't find any info on how to use rev matching in a quick way; everything I find describes using rev matching during downshifting and double clutching. Which leaves us with my origional question of how it is supposed to help.
