tigerdirect has a US site too. I've had bad luck with CS over there, after building a couple PCs. Look for that KB at newegg.

I was looking around for one of those for use in a car... didn't have much luck.

But I searched a bit more, and came up with these:

Vaio wireless on Amazon

Vaio keyboard w/touchpad, just a short review of it...

Another review of it...

Some Fentek RF ones (100' range)... holy expensive keyboard!

Smaller Fentek, 150' RF range, and only $110

More expensive IR Fujitsu... Looks a lot like the Fentek above.

This Unicomp is only $30. Unicomp still makes 101 key clicky click keyboards like the old IBM model M ones, just for info.

And that's what I can find for now...

What about a wireless keyboard and gyroscopic mouse? www.gyration.com I originally wanted exactly what you want for my HTPC setup, but came across the gyro mouse at a conference and decided to go that route. I'm constantly using the mouse--more than I ever imagined; and it is nice not having it tied to a keyboard. The mouse wouldn't be great for gaming but all other functions are a breeze. Oh, and when you put it down it works just like a normal optical mouse on nearly any surface! Their smaller keyboard is perfect to put away yet also fits nicely on your lap for typing (like now).

What about something like this ...

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=040

Not available until September according to the site, but looks pretty awesome, and MS hardware is pretty well top notch!

I believe the part number will be ZV1-00001 and looks like cost will be $100 Canadian (according to my Microsoft OEM source) .... of course, I'll be selling it through my company when it's released if you want one

I have that mouse too and it works great if you use it like a normal mouse but using it the other way is so hard and just waste time but its a great mouse

Do you have any facts for your sarcasm Corbett??

I do.

How many failures do you see ?

I sell both MS hardware & Logitech ... logitech returns are approximately 6% and MS hardware is 0% ... that's from a 24 month period, looking at 180 units sold (approx 60/40 logitech/MS).
I have yet to see a Microsoft keyboard/mouse unit have problems, and especially with frequencies.

Is there such a beast with that kind of range? I've looked into some wireless solutions but they seem to be geared for the desktop, with only a couple feet of range.

I had the same exact problem setting up a friend's gaming computer in his living room. The wireless keyboard/mouse only had a range of about 5 feet.

I opened up the receiver and found that the antenna consisted of nothing more than a small loop-shaped solder trace around the perimeter of the circuit board. I soldered about 6 feet of wire onto the end of the trace, glued it in place, ran it through a hole I drilled in the case, buttoned it back up, and stretched the antenna wire out behind the entertainment center. Problem solved!

I can't speak officially, but four of my friends with five-button Microsoft Intellimice had to get rid of them within two years due to the left mouse button becoming either click-happy or not clicking when told. Two of them were on their second Microsoft mouse and developed the same problems. I'm even noticing it with my brand new Microsoft three-button (I believe Intellimouse but unsure) at work. I've been running Logitech wireless mice and keyboards at home for six years now without problems -- my parents are still using my old set daily. My said friends have most switched over to Logitechs; some have used theirs for two years now without incident.

Personal opinion. However, I can understand frequency issues. My old Logitech cordless mouse/keyboard combo, my new Logitech cordless mouse/keyboard combo, and my friend's Logitech MX700 all responded to their corresponding computers, but if you used them at the exact same time the one with the strongest signal (usually my friend's mouse, which was annoying as he was my roommate at the time) was the only one that would transmit and receive its signal. I had to put my receivers just a few inches from the keyboards and mice to still be able to use them when he was at his computer.

As for range, maybe I've just got too many wireless and magnetic fields in one area, but I've been only able to just squeak by the maximum rated signal of 6 feet with both sets.
