After spending 2 weeks of my own vacation mostly driving my minivan cause it was so hot, I returned to the dealer. I said please just don't charge it check for leaks and so on. They said that this was their standard practice. The next day I picked up the car and the a/c worked fine, I asked if they had checked it over and they said there were no problems. This led me to belive it was fixed, cool once again...for about three days. Max air = hot air, so back again I go, my sales agent was friendly enough at first, she checked it out then went back to see the mechanic. Now this guy must be good because he was able to find the problem without even looking at it. He told her it was the compressor and there was nothing they could do. I gave her a few choice words and asked if I could see this automotive genius. When he got there my reply was that if it were the compressor why did it work when he charged it(making a wisecrack that that's all they did and not checked the system.) And if it is the compressor then the system should still be full. I asked him to check. Pffft that's it that's all, empty.... So the mechanic grudgingly made an appt for next week to check the system. I think I'm gonna get screwed.
Same exact thing happened to me about a month ago. He charged it, worked fine for a day, and then hot as hell again. He then 'checked' it out (tint), and discovered my condensor was shot.

If the A/C was represented as working when it in fact had a leak, that MIGHT fall under the lemon law & the dealer be required to repair it.
I really don't know much of anything about those laws - especially in Canada.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

doesn't the lemon law act only apply to new vehicles? Most used car places are "As Is"

Varies state to state, I think. Canada, who knows??
Here in Florida, it applies to new cars, however, if a used car is ADVERTISED and does not meet the represented or implied condition as outlined in the ad, there is potential liability. I'm sure the truth in advertising thing can be pressed to some measure of success.

I don't think the AC not working 4 days after you bought it would fall under a lemon law. I would go to the dealer and tell him you're pissed, you want it fixed because you just bought it and it died. If he doesn't like it, tell him he MUST fix it. If he still says no, get a local news crew, get the car right in front of the dealership. Tell him if he doesn't stop being a [censored] [censored] for recharging a broken AC unit before he sells cars, you're going to drive yours right through the front window in front of a media crew. [censored] dealers = [censored] cars.

Yip got screwed... I got there and they said they will call me with the price ((HUGH)) "#$&*!#" After a lengthly discussion I left vowing revenge. Maybe I shouldn't have done that.... So the AS$#%LE manager says " I don't care what I said, if it ain't in writing I don't have to do anything." Can you believe this clown, talk aqbout customer service, now I'm just trying to figure out how to get the word spread.
