Originally posted by ZeroHour: no there is 1200 degree paint that can easily be purchased Advanced, AZ, and even Walmart. and IIRC you can order higher ratings yet. And I thought you needed the MIL for the Y-pipe.
The high temp paints will reduce corrosion but will do nothing to manage heat.
For those of you still confused about this "deal," the old pricing system gave you a $40 price break on the headers and maybe a $40 price break if you opted out of the ceramic coating. On the other hand, if you ordered the MSDS Y-Pipe on its own, Marty charged you $150. It didn't make sense, but the idea (I reckon) was to discourage you from buying an incomplete system, and reduce the amount of pieces and parts lying around Marty's shop.
So, what he's done now is to give in and offer the pricing by component. So, if you already have an MSDS y, aftermarket y, or optimized stock y, your new price break is $155. If you don't want Marty's basic coating, your new price break is $125 (IIRC). And yes, some people make their own MIL eliminators.
That's the "deal."
