Well, I somehow don't have the ability to cut the grass, paint interior rooms, move furniture in a repetative manner, etc.

I don't do AC work for a living...OJT if you will at the house. With a subscription to alldata.com for diy, it helps quite a bit...lack of funds is a good motivator too.
