My fiancee's dad works for Department of Homeland Security at their Columbus office and deals with illegals all the time.
However, I must take exception to this:

Las Chepas is not directly over the border from Columbus, the town of Las Palomas is. Las Chepas is actually 18 miles to the west. According to the Mexican governmen, it's officially known as Josefa Ortiz de DomÃ?Ânguez.
