Why do you want a laptop? There are two main types :-
1. Portable (aka desktop replacement). These are designed to be used at a desk, on power when you use them. They are powerful but big and with low battery life (<4 hours).
2. Mobile. THese are designed for use on the road. They are light, less powerful than desktop replacement types, but have good battery life at 5+ hours usually.
For a desktop, I like Acer ... high quality machines with good warranty and low failure rate.
Where can you find a laptop with over 5+ hours battery life? I thought my PowerBook was extraordinary at ~3.5 hours, and my old Vaio decent at 2 hours (both when new: Vaio in 2002, PB in 2003).
Or am I being two years behind the times again?
