2.25" High flow cat
Magnaflow muffler for resonator
Magnaflow muffler in back

This will give you the best sound w/o being obnoxiously loud. This will also give the best all around N/A performance.

For the 96 I would recommend a Focus header. It will have the spot for the EGR. Yes, every header will have to modified to fit.

Doesn't ZXtuner have a header that is supost to fit the Contour?

As recommended get a Focus header and keep your EGR.

The ZXTuner Cougar header will only fit directly to a 98+ Contour. That's because the 98+ Contour has no EGR. If you wanted to use the ZXtuner Cougar header on a Pre-98, you would have to disable EGR. It's not a very difficult 15 minute job.

BTW, I'm a bit wary of the ZXtuner header. It has no flex pipe at all. It is solid from the header to the resonator flange. If I were going to buy one, I would have a stainless flex pipe added right before the flange that connects to the resonator. (In the stock location.) I haven't checked the Cougar forums. I wonder if there have been any reports of cracking?

You can put a hole in the header to have EGR functional.
