Hi,

I recently got an aftermarket battery for my Thinkpad.

It works OK, but when it is fully charged and the AC adapter is on, the battery light on the laptop keeps blinking in amber (like it does when the batt. is very low on power).
It's kinda annoying.

I emailed the place I got thet batt from (they sell hundreds of batteries on ebay and have 100% feedback) and they said this is normal (he was talking something about 'reversion') and it will go away after a while.
Anyways, he said if I don't like it I can send it back for replacement or refund.

Does anybody know if this 'reversion' story is BS or not ?
Should I send it back ? Otherwise it works OK, gives me a good 3-4 hrs, better than the 1yr old IBM battery I have.

Thanks,

T.

happens on my compaq laptop sometimes, but it seems like it just recently started. the machine is pretty much always plugged in anyway so i just ignore it.

if you're getting ~3hrs from a full charge then that's pretty good and i wouldn't consider the blinking light a problem. maybe someone with a thinkpad can chime in.

could be real. trying cycling the battery a few times.. draining the battery then charging it all the way with the laptop off. iirc ibm's battery meter recalibrates after several chargings.

what laptop btw? I have a T20 and an old old battery.. it barely lasts 40 minutes on a full charge now.

Does the thinkpad not come with a tool for recalibrating the battery? Something that discharges then recharges it while monitoring ?

As far as replacement batteries, if it's not OEM, the only other place I really check out is www.apc.com You might pay a little more, but at least you have quality and good warranty to fall back on.

I'm not too sure what the lifespan is on newer batteries, but we always used to replace them after 3-4 years of use.
