I got the urge to do something free today. It took a whopping 5 minutes to do.

Here's the finished product. Here's the How-To: http://www.contour.org/cgi-ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=40&t=000552

What do you think? I should have pictures of it on the car later.

I have already done that but I never got around to installing it on my car. frown I did medium steele blue for the surrounding part and silver for the Ford part.

The front one was VERY hard to get off. I broke some blades trying to pry it off. Maybe next time, I would have used a heat gun. The adhesive they used also took some of the chrome lettering off the "Ford". Had to carefully put it back on.

The back one was very easy.

Chris, thanks for the how-to. I did the front oval this weekend. I drilled a small hole through the backing (ended up getting into the clear piece a bit) then pushing the piece off through the hole with a metal rod.

Some of the chrome pieces did get pulled off, how did you reattach yours? I did mine Cabernet Red, but didn't use silicone (stupid me) to reattach and the Goop has pulled off some of the paint. I'm gonna redo it carbon fiber tape.

I tried drilling a small hole into the back as well up toward the top, but didn't want to bust through the plastic.

As far as the pieces that came off, I pulled it off, sanded the emblem, then placed it back on very gently. I didn't glue it on, I just painted over it. After that, I just glued it on to the backing. That held it in just fine.

I ended up putting a small dimple through the plastic, the paint covers it up. How long did you wait for the paint to dry, and what kind of glue did you use? I've pulled the paint off twice with the glue.

For your other post on the painted oval, did you do that yourself? I would love to see a how-to for it, tried on my last oval and the paint chipped away pretty quickly.

Thanks.

Are you painting the front or the back of the emblem? If you paint the back, then mount it, the paint doesn't flake off because it's pretty well protected. Also, make sure you sand by hand. Any type of machine to sand, will melt the plastic (Dremel)

Once you get the color you want on there, go over it a few times with primer. This "fills" the color in, and protects the paint from the glue/tape.

I have painted the back, the flaking I was asking about was in regards to the grill oval but I don't think I'll try painting that myself again. I'll be sure to add some coats of primer when I redo the badge. Thanks.
