20% difference isn't all that much. It could be normal.
Make sure that you properly lube everything going back together.
Lube the caliper slide pins and make sure that they don't bind.
Lube every part of the pad backing plate that touches the caliper, especially any edge part that slides.
Use brake caliper grease.
