I just had the dealer put in Mobil1 in my 2000 CSVT. I don't know if there are enough benefits to continue using Mobil1 if I have my oil changed every 2,500 miles, so I was considering switching back to conventional oil next oil change. I have heard mixed responses from other messages on this site and on Mobil's site about switching back. Has anyone done this, and does it cause any problems? Is it really worth using synthetics if I change my oil this often?

I build engines and yes Mobile 1 makes a difference. Why would you want to change back? cost?

Why would you change your oil so often? Even under the most severe environment, 3000 miles is the recommended change interval (as long as you are using mileage and not calendar months as your interval).

Change back anytime you want.
But if it were me, I'd use Mobil 1 and change every 5k.

I just changed from Mobil 1 I'd been running since the engine's been broken in to Valvoline MaxLife. Reason? I had a small oil leak from, I believe, the oil pan. Leak's now gone.

I guess I don't necessarily change the oil every 2,500 miles. It varies between that and 3,500. Living in Wisconsin, I store my SVT in the winter, so I only use it from mid-April until mid-November. In that time I put on around 5,000 - 7,000 miles. I change the oil twice: right when I take it out, and once mid-summer.
I probably will keep using Mobil1, but I'm just worried that it might cause some problems. The price of Mobil1 doesn't really matter to me.

The previous owner of my SVT used Mobil 1 synthetic. Just having done my first oil change a couple of weeks ago, I went ahead and used conventional. I remember reading a thread once saying whoever's car ran cooler on synthetic. My temp gauge runs in the same spot as it did with the Mobil 1. I can't tell a difference, but it's been only 2000 miles.

However the difference is so small that the gauges that Ford put in these cars will not register it. These gauges are nothing more than idiot lights with a needle on them, they dont measure actual temp. or pressure.

i've been using maxlife for a few months but i have a leak and so i add oil here and there....for this i;ve been using mobil 0-30...it seems to do pretty well overall but the oil is so thin and i think i may just go back to the valvoline maxlife
cant say i've truely noticed a difference just due to the oil but i added the mobil 1 and mobil 1 atf at the same time before a long drive and the car seemed to really appreciate both
