I had the car in the shop all weekend, the mechanic is a good friend of mine so he was givin in the look over because ive been having a lot of problems with the car misfiring/ giving wierd cpu codes... he hooks up the cpu and an oil pressure guage (which is taped to my window with ducktape (ERR) and drive it around to see if it will act up, nothing.... after the cpu has been cleared get half way back to my house (1 mile away!) and it (it=cel) comes on. i take it back and they write down the code on THE LIST only to tell me that im just going to have to drive it till it starts being more consistant with its problems because they cant figure out whats going on due to the fact that the car wont freak with them in it (OF CORSE!) so i start off to work and oh boy! Cruzin along... mindin my own... decell 45-->35 next sign 35-->25 and behold! my break is rock solid... so i just had to slow down using the ebrake, thank god for that thing! i was about 10-15 miles from the mecanics (and home) so i just had to use the ebrake... im just glad i was the one in it when it happened... my mother would have just took it to a ditch or looked for a hill or freaked or worse... tree... anyway i made it to the mechanics and we looked and it was a vacuum leak... there is a 3 inch hole! this car is freaking me out... we need to get it fixed (vacuum leak at least)and sell it before it becomes a real money pit for us... if that happens then i hope to get an svt or at least a v6 contour... maybe a newer model... i like the looks of the older ones better than the newer ones, but i think a newer one might not give me as many problems... (better HLs!(less haze!)) there is no scarier thing in a car that happens than when u go to slow or stop and nothing happens... or the car is non responsive to your efforts to break... scary day!
on the drivers side of the engine bay there is a circular drum lookin thing attached to the firewall, there is a tube that is offset but still in the center of it that looks almost like it exploded, or something hot touched it for a long time...
thought id share incase anyof you find yourself in a similar situation... EBRAKE! (slowly)
