Be careful. The sealed beam units you are looking at are meant to be exposed to air, and are made of glass. If you house these things in plastic, there is going to be no place for the heat to escape. Contour headlights DON'T like heat.

well you could probably dremel out the plastic lens in front of where the lights are. just leave it over the signal bulb. if you painted the housing black then it would really look like a morette style knock off. I thought about doing something like this but I'd want to have an extra set of lights before I did.

I would hope if you actually went to this effort that you would actually purchase a E-code lamp for the housing. Using standard AutoZone lamps would be pointless. All that work for what will still be outdated technology. Every time you had a light burn out you would have to cut it open again also.

You have the idea right, just dont use the lamps you are thinking of using.
