Just curiouse how many miles people have gone before replaceing stuts. I am having the fronts replaced along with a broken spring this week along with a couple other minor things but this is going to cost 670.00 thought I would do the rears after saving some moeny but am torn on just having it all done at once. I have 85,000 miles on the car and its a 98 so there is not doubt that the rear needs to be changed just wondering if I can put it off for a while. Any insight on this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

well, my 96 GL has 1193xx miles on it. Stock suspension, it rides pretty rough, but could take quite a few more miles. I plan to get a good cheap suspension when I can afford it and have stazi give me hand on the install.

My fronts went 140k. Rears were replaced at 60k just because new springs were going in. At 140k (80k later), one was weak and one was okay.

I've had stock struts with H&R springs for about 3 years and 35k miles now. The struts are hurting though.

old csvt-early 99 with 97??? miles-stock and in need of replacement although it still handled fairly well considering its age.

current csvt-75??? miles with the stock suspension and it is in need of new stuff also. i think the previous owner may have run the car harder than i have because the suspension is worse off with fewer miles then the old tour was with more miles. other than some squeaking and harshness over railroad tracks it drives just fine.

116k with original springs and struts as far as i know. they seem to have a little bit of life left in them, though i'll only know how bad they are when they get changed.
plan on redoing the suspension in maybe a year with koni's and H&R's.

I am wondering if everyone that says their suspension is still good really knows. I thought the struts on my Mystique were still ok, well one had started leaking. I didn't know how bad they were until I drove my contour for the first time after the winter this spring. Like I said I thought they were fine but were trashed. when the old ones came out they hardly returned after being compressed. i did the rears one weekend and the fronts the next. best I can put it was I felt like a bobble head figure driving a week with new rear struts and old front ones

now my 99 the struts were better but nowhere as good as the cheap ones I got for the mystique or the Bat struts that went into my 99

of course driving contitions play heavily into this
