Why do yo uwant to remove it??

Just leave it there and cover it with some second skin stuff to make it look nice.

I agree. It isn't hurting anything. Unless you plan on turning your car into a "drag" car and start gutting it for weight...it really wont make a difference. And in the long run, if you decide you want some subwoofers, you wont have to buy some sound deadening material which can be pretty expensive. If you must remove it for whatever reason, there are tons of degreasers and tar removers on the market. Go check out your local Autozone and you'll find something. I promise it will be messy and you'll probably wind up scraping the stuff off (as well as scraping your trunk lid). Best of luck in whichever way you choose.

the reason i would like it removed is because it makes the trunk lid so heavy that when you pop the trunk sometimes it closes itself...i think i might wait until it turns colder and see about removing it then...

Just get the spring that people with spoilers get, it makes the lid pop when the trunk lid is released.

i have one, works great for pappng the trunk out fo the latch, when i first got the car, the trunk kept tatching itself back shut before i could pull it open, all problems now solved.

Trunk will not pop open
This is a common problem.

The part number for the spring popper for all contique trunks is F8RZ-63431B04-AA . This will assist the opening of the trunk lid to help it to pop the lid out of the latch which the struts will not do.
