He never had a heatshield in the first place. It is also NOT necessary to make/install one. The CEL has to do with your IAT sensor, so pull the fuses 4 & 11, or unhook the negative battery cable for 15 minutes, plug back in you should be good to go. If the CEL comes back on, you might have a problem with your IAT location, but a lot of people put them directly into the filter.
