Most codes will clear themselves after so many on/off cycles of the engine. Some may be as little as three or as many as 40 (so I'm told). When I got the CEL for leaving my MAF unplugged I wasn't going to wait for the CEL to clear itself, so I cleared the code. I have a scanner of my own to do that, but for most people pulling fuses or disconnecting the battery for a short time will suffice. On both of my Duratecs, pulling fuses 4 and 11 do the trick.

You can certainly listen to their "diagnosis" but many have gotten wrong information from them. Come back here and post the code and see what people say. More than likely we'll be able to correct the problem. My only other suggestion would be to post the code in Troubleshooting and not here in Duratec Performance. You'll get a better response there.

so i dont quite understand, will the light go off after they scan it or do i have to wait for the problem to be fixed for the light to go off, and do i have to do something to turn off the light or does it go off when the problems fixed, and how much do they charge to get the code at autozone?

You may buy the part first but don't install it yet (and keep the receipt). Sometimes they may make mistakes (so do we, but you would probably get better advice here, less expensive anyway) . Come back and then post the code. And more CEGers will chime in with suggestions. I'm not sure if they close at 8 or 9 today, so you better hurry.

before i go do this, which might not be till tomorrow, i was curious if the light could be on because i have not yet installed a heatsheild or because of the location i put my iat sensor(shoved in the rubber acordian tube) does anyone know if these could be the reasons?

Read our earlier posts. It is a free service as they hope that you will then buy the part from them. Go now and ask questions later. Just in case the shop closes.

If could be anything, but unless you post the code, it would just be guesses (educated, no doubt, but guesses). Unless, of course, as previous posts suggested, you forgot to plug in the MAF connectors (or some other connectors).

Read Hetfield's post at 6:05 for answers to this but don't pull the fuses until after the codes are scanned (or you will lose them).

when i first finished installing everything i did not have the iat sensor shoved into my rubber intake tube, i shut the car off noticing the light was on and shoved the sensor into the rubber tube, could that have been the reason the CEL went on and i just have to go through some engine cycles until it goes off, like the post made at 6:05 explains?

You should also click My Home, click edit on Personal Information... and then add your signature to something similar to this so that others need not ask you what year, transmission, etc. in the future.
