Yes, it could but we won't really know unless we have the code. You could, of course, just erase the codes by pulling fuse 4 and 11 in the fuse box next to the battery(and the Check Engine Light will go off, for now) and hope that was the reason but as the service is free from the autoparts store, just have them scan it.
