There are lots of good reasons that people do hybrids, here are two;
(1) Cost
(2) Maintaining the 'stock' 2.5L look for insurance reasons....
It's not cheaper to do a hybrid.
Both engines look the same and use the same valve covers in the end.
Those are not good reasons. 
Au contrare, it is effectively similar in cost and CAN be done cheaper or it can be more expensive.
