Does anyone know where this tube goes it comes out of the trans and I dont know where it suppose to connect it. I was changing my water pump and it came loose and know my trans is not shifting right and it doesnt idle. I think it is a vac tube but I dont know were it goes. Here are some pics.

Welcome. What year is your Duratec and is that a ATX or MTX? I am going to change my oil/filter now. I will have a look. If yours is an ATX, then, it should be easy for me to look for it.

That is likely the ATX tranny breather, or sup'm like that. It goes ... NOWHERE!

It just hangs out next to the battery (there may be a eye on the side of the battery box) and connects to nothing.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Transmission Breather tube, attaches in a plastic clip that is on the rear battery hold down bolt. The end is open to the air.

Have to agree with the two of them. On my 96 where the hose is supposed to join, it looks like a "release valve looking bolt" (what a great technical description)

OMG LOL I remember that all to well! I did the exact same thing, and had the same exact question! I was screwing around in the bay when I got the car and went WTF!!! It just looks pretty. Find a good spot for it not to get intangled and let it be.

There is a service bulletin out about atx fluid spilling out the original breather, etc. The hose is there to allow it to drip down on the ground and not on your wires, atx, etc.

Someone in another thread awhile back suggested to plug the hose. Please don't do that. just leave it draped down for the ocasional fluid to drip out....

When I got my car that tube connected to the pressure relief valve on the battery. Believe it or not some of the Contiques had a battery with a pressure relief valve on them.I changed to a Diehard Gold and have let it chill since
