I had been getting a check engine for about 2+ weeks or so,
today I had to unhook the postive battery termal (so I could add amp power wire), but since I hooked everything back up, the check engine light hasnt come on?

** also note that i had disconnected battery about 1 week earlier too when I installed intake, but the CEL still came on after that?

any explanations?

It would be nice to know what codes were set, but since you disconnected the battery the codes are gone, at least for now.

Light can come on and then go off if the problem corrects itself.

Light could have come on from one of the monitors (checking program that doesn't run all the time such as the fuel evap monitor or the cat effeciency monitor) and either it hasn't been run long enough to set again or it has corrected itself.

I have had the same thing on the 99 Contour that we have. The check engine light came on and I pulled the codes almost immediately. It was a O2 sensor, so we replaced it. (Thanks Chris). And then it went away for a little while and then came back, then went away and came back, and then went away and hasn't been back since. It always came up with the SAME P0420 code. I have a used (51k miles) set of Catalytic converters off an SVT, but am not going to put them on until I am sure that they are the problem.

Next time it pops up, if it does, pull the code (Auto Zone etc) and remember the NUMBER they pull. Don't listen to the guy at AZ....

After your car runs through some driving cycles it may come on. It will go off when you disconnect power to the ECM.
