What I recommend is that you check your wires leading from the firewall on the passenger side. There will be a set of wires that leads to your PCM. Check these insulation on these wires, is the insulation brittle or falling off? Also check the wires over by the battery and the fuse box next to the battery - is the insulation falling off and or brittle? If so, you will probably need to replace your engine wiring harness. There is a service bulletin about this. If you do have insulation falling off or brittle, see if the wires are wet. If they are I would use a hair dryer to carefully kinda dry them out and then see if your car starts....
There is a splash shield kit for your year car that keeps water from splashing up on damper and belt, etc. If you hear a slipping sound when you drive through puddles, etc. you will need this kit.
