My understanding of the difficulty with the Mondeo headlamps was that, in addition to the subtly different curves, the depth is too much to get in a 'tour. Replacing the hood and fender might make matching the curves easier, but it would do nothing to get rid of the structure behind the headlamps that cause the depth problems.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here though.
