God, the anti-Nascar people are starting to sound like the democrats on here now. Repeat the same thing over and over, even after its been proven false.

Most nascar fans are like "champ what?, indy what?, whats a formula 1 car?"

No, most Nascar fans are "race fans". Things have changed since the backwoods days of Nascar, and the sport has grown in a big way over the past few years, namely because of Nextel's sponsorship of the cup. I think you'll find that most Nascar fans will check the Speed channel and stop on just about any race more-so than your average joe.

The "driving in circles" comments always crack me up, too. Ever seen the in-car cameras of what the driver is doing while "driving in a circle"? First, the tracks are not flat, nor does every track have the same surface on top and bottom. Each track has its own personality. (More-so than dubkatz, at least.) The track surface is also not perfectly smooth around the oval, tri-oval, or whatever type of track it is. There are usually big bumps, and even the slightest jolt at 200mph can be nuts on the driver.

Of course, how many people here have driven at 200mph? I can tell you that at 150mph things get real scary, I dunno what it'd be like at 200mph.

In the end, if you don't like it, that's fine. But racing is racing...
